Press Release Regarding The Informal Meeting Of The Ministers Of The Foreign Affairs Of Seecp , 08.10.2009

The Informal Meeting of the Ministers of the Foreign Affairs of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) will be held on 9-10 October 2009 in Istanbul. The Meeting will be hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Ahmet Davutoğlu. Prior to this, SEECP Political Directors will convene to take up the preparations of the Meeting.

This Meeting constitutes the first event within the framework of our SEECP Chairmanship-in-Office which we took over from Moldova at the Chisinau Summit on 5 June 2009.

The SEECP Participating States, namely Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia will be participating in the Meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers or Deputy Foreign Ministers. Besides, the EU Troika and Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) will be represented at the Meeting.

The SEECP, as the most important cooperation mechanism in the Balkans, reflects the understanding of “regional ownership” of the Balkan countries. In line with our common vision aiming at transforming the Balkans into a region of permanent stability and prosperity through establishing and maintaining an effective regional cooperation, a series of high level political and technical meetings will be organized during our Chairmanship-in-Office.
