Press Release Regarding The The Terrorist Attack Took Place In Peshawar, Pakistan , 19.11.2009

The terrorist attack that took place today (19 November 2009) in the city of Peshawar in Pakistan, which targeted a court compound killing many people, has caused deep sorrow and concern. Turkey wishes mercy upon those who lost their lives and swift recovery to the wounded and extends her condolences to the families of the victims.

As one of the most affected cities by terror incidents in Pakistan, Peshawar has witnessed seven different terrorist attacks in less than two weeks. All these attacks targeted civilians and government buildings and caused the death of many innocent lives. Such attacks would not deter Pakistan in its fight against terrorism. The South Waziristan military operation carried out successfully by the Pakistani Armed Forces constitutes the most explicit example of this determination.

The fight against terrorism requires the absolute solidarity and cooperation of the international community. Considering terrorism the common enemy of humankind, Turkey is in full solidarity with the people and government of friendly and brotherly Pakistan.

On this sad occasion, we once again reiterate our full support to the peace, prosperity and security efforts of Pakistan.
